Ty Vizenor, AHS Freshman and incoming AAI student, has received a nomination for the Rita Moreno California High School Musical Honor Awards. Ty has been nominated in the lead actor category, for his outstanding performance as Don Lockwood in our spring production of Singing’ in the Rain. This nomination is a huge achievement for not only for our lead theater director, Melanie Zapper, but for the entire Arcata Arts Institute.

This awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theater north of Santa Barbara.

The Outstanding Actor and Actress winners will be sent to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA) – also known as the Jimmy™ Awards – in New York City, where they’ll perform on a Broadway stage before industry experts, and compete for scholarship opportunities to NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.

Awards for the Rita Morena California High School Musical Honors will be announced on May 22nd at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts.
