We will be outside Humboldt State’s 3rd Street Gallery, 416 3rd St, 6pm-9pm to answer any questions you might have about the event. We’ll also be helping to register folks for this fine event.

Arts Now: Humboldt Summit


The Arcata Arts Institute has joined forces with the California Alliance for Arts Education to host the Arts Now Humboldt Summit on January 6, 2017. We’d like like to invite you to join us in this monumental event within our local arts community.

This summit is part of a statewide campaign to shine a bright light on districts and counties that are making strategic investments to improve the quality of students’ educations. It will bring together community partners, arts advocates, business leaders, teachers and parents, school board members and district staff, district and county superintendents, principals and VAPA coordinators from the counties of Del Norte, Glenn, Lake, Mendocino, Shasta, Siskiyou, Sonoma, Trinity, Tehama, and Humboldt and beyond.

The region-wide conference will offer strategies and resources for bringing creative education to rural school districts. School leaders, teachers and community partners in Northern Humboldt Union High School District will share how they have increased opportunities for creative learning through collaboration, partnerships within Humboldt’s creative economy. The Alliance will also present background on resources like the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), Title I and Arts Plans, as well as other unique regional and statewide funding and educational programs.

This summit will feature two sessions of panelists discussing the issues at hand and how to overcome these challenges, highlighting best practices.  There will also be performances by current AAI students, and a tour of what is happening with creative education at Arcata High School in the Arcata Arts Institute and the Innovation Design Institute classrooms.

Autumn Nights: AAi Theater/Music Fall Showcase

Join us Wed. Nov. 9th & Thurs. Nov. 10th for Autumn Nights, our fall theater and music showcase.

This will be a completely student organized and run production. From the lighting, costumes, and directing; our students have worked tirelessly to showcase their original performances .

General- $8

Students &Seniors – $5

Doors open at 6:30pm show starts at 7:00pm.

Light snacks and refreshment will be available to purchase.




Arts Arcata: OCTOBER Recap




Arts Arcata, October, was a huge success! Recent work from AAI Visual and Media Arts students was exhibited (up through Nov. 1st)  at Redwood Yogurt.  At the opening  a packed audience of friends and family listened to performances by the Arcata Arts Institute’s Music department.

Arcata Arts Institute Empowers Student Voices.

Master Class with Access Humboldt wins recognition

In Spring of 2016, Access Humboldt partnered with Arcata Arts Institute (AAI) to offer a Master Class in Video Production. The Class focused on projects for the “Student Voices” campaign, which empowers them to make their voices heard in their local school district. Students had an opportunity take part in a video advocacy campaign that offers them a real-world opportunity to author content, communicate creatively and practice civic engagement.
