Flow 2015

FLOW- Arcata Arts Institute’s premier runway event.

This fashion showcase is the culminating event for our fashion design students. FLOW will be held at the Arcata Theatre Lounge (1036 G St., Arcata) on Saturday, May 23rd. Doors will open at 7:30 pm. The showcase will start at 8:00 pm. Original designs were conceived of and constructed by AAI students. We have 9-12 designers, from 40-60 models on the runway, and include everything from laser cut garments, handmade hats, fabric printed with custom illustrations, to dresses lit up with Arduino programmed LED lights and masks made in the commedia dell’arte tradition. Designers are from all of our curricular strands, both visual and performing art. The production itself is student run, including marketing (poster, program, ticket design, and press releases), sound, lighting, studio, and event photography/video. Artist experts are part of all aspects as support for the students’ learning.

Tickets can be purchased at Hot Knots on the Arcata Plaza (898 G St). Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students and $30at the door.

This event is a true metaphor for what AAI is, vibrant community partnerships, VAPA and CTE standards-based curriculum, within a rigorous, advanced level arts program within Arcata High School, a rural, comprehensive public high school.
