Applications
All students applying for acceptance in the Visual Arts, Media Arts, Theatre or Music Strands will participate in an interview and a portfolio review or audition in April.
*Due to the Coronavirus, all applicants will submit a portfolio digitally this year. Application due date is April 16th, 2021.*

Each student must demonstrate above-average ability. interest and/or potential.
The first step in the process is to sign up for the AAI class in your school schedule. You will be notified of your audition date by an AAI teacher. If you are not currently an Arcata High School or Six Rivers student, email jmauro@nohum.k12.ca.us and request an interview.
Students will be notified of acceptance into the program within three weeks of interviewing.
Each applicant will be required to submit the following:
1. Application
2. Transcript
3. Resume
4. Essay
5. Teacher Evaluation
6. Portfolio Review or Audition
AAI Funding
Funding of this extensive arts program is provided in the following manner:
• District Funding
The Northern Humboldt Union School District strongly supports the AAI program.
Other funding comes from the following:
• Fund-raising/Sponsorship
All students will be requested to participate in two major fund-raising activities per year.
All parents are encouraged to sponsor part of our program via donations of time, money and/or in kind contributions.
• Grants
Instructors, artists, parents, and students are encouraged to pursue available grant options.
